Missing definite article - "the help_mp files".

Capitalization - "XML", "HTML".

I'd probably prefer "encoded in UTF-8" to "UTF-8-encoded".

Something about the "as well as" rubs me wrong... a simple "and" in that
place might work better, although it would also be possible to embellish
it a little with a word like "alike" (after "documentation") or "both"
(after "are").

The final sentence is true only if the "you" is actually going to be
making changes to the files in question. While I acknowledge that this
document is directed at people who are intending to do that, I'd still
prefer to avoid the pronoun if possible - maybe something more like
"Editing these files in a program which uses a different encoding will
result in breaking console messages and HTML" (something - I don't like
"HTML pages" in this context either).
