I did not claim that.

Though i wonder how you checked that your claim of
"-std=gnu99 does not enable _GNU_SOURCE"
is true?

Was that based on generalization that all compiler versions will always
handle gnu99 the same as the one on your computer even if the docs leave
it completely undefined what gnu99 does?

Besides what does gnu99 enable on the compiler you tested?
