Well, "ff" is obviously shorthand for "FFmpeg" - and what else would you
call it? I suppose "lavc" or "libavcodec" might be appropriate...

In the context, "cdg sample" is fairly plainly "(the/a) sample we have
of something in the CD-graphics format for which this decoder is
intended". Possibly this isn't good enough, but it's hardly
incomprehensible.
