I am about to tell you that third person in commit messages is to be
avoided. The next sentence is an attempt to make the lesson stick that
commit messages should not speak about themselves by saying that commit
messages should not talk about themselves, but just express whatever the
point is supposed to be directly.

See how clumsy and awkward that sounded?  If you want to say something,
say it directly and avoid third person.
