Well, you already had success with convincing mingw64 developers, I'm
quite sure you can easily do it again with the mingw32 ones.
Do you need mplayer to be broken, in order to use it as argument to
press mingw32 developers into fixing their setup? IMHO posix
compatibility should be good enough reason.
BTW I couldn't find your mail/post/ticket to mingw64. You did contact
them through their public channels, didn't you? Presenting that thread
to mingw32 should provide some weight.
