Felix,
I think u should not compare with X-4.2.0 stock driver as that is
an older version (1.1.20). In fact, I checked with the current xfree86 CVS
http://cvsweb.xfree86.org/cvsweb/xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/drivers/savage/savage_driver.c
and noticed that the driver version there is still 1.1.20.
My comparison is between:
1. Tim Robert's 1.1.23t driver (compiled for X-4.2.0 and i386)
2. Ur asmopt-1.1.23t driver (compiled for X-4.2.0 and i?86)
The flags are "-v -fs -vo xv -frames 1000 -benchmark -nosound -slices
-nodr" in both cases. Also, I took the best of 15 runs for each case
with MPlayer CVS-020406 (optimized for athlon). Here are the results:
1.
BENCHMARKs: VC: 10.755s VO: 9.962s A: 0.000s Sys: 1.368s =
22.084s
BENCHMARK%: VC: 48.6981% VO: 45.1079% A: 0.0000% Sys: 6.1940% =
100.0000%
2.
BENCHMARKs: VC: 10.676s VO: 9.935s A: 0.000s Sys: 1.370s =
21.980s
BENCHMARK%: VC: 48.5704% VO: 45.1985% A: 0.0000% Sys: 6.2311% =
100.0000%
It appears that ur driver is slightly (~0.5%) faster than the pre-patched
one. What kind of platform are u currently using for benchmarking ?
thanks
- Nil
