I have to study nowadays so I don't have much time either. 
But maybe we shouldn' tduplicate our efforts with xmms!
If you have written something, or something needs to be written
we should cooperate. I have been looking at xmms for some time too, since
i have been porting it to the zaurus linux pda - but I haven't done anything 
for the mplayer plugin support yet.
