Arrg, this is annoying IMHO in the (much more common) case where
you're not using but a couple filters and everything is clear without
{} mess. In fact your example would work fine without the {} although
it might be a bit difficult for mortals to read. At least, if
something like this goes in, it should be optional except in cases
like blah={foo:bar={a=1:b=2}}:bah=10 where there are :'s that have to
be protected.
