It provides an interface to DVD-ROM ATAPI/MMC commands (especially
authentication stuff) just like on Linux or the other BSDs.
Unfortunately it is not compatible to those.

Any FreeBSD experts here? Do you need one? I may jump in.
But not too soon, this month I'm rather busy, I have a nasty
deadline on Feb 7th.
