It's more a question of avaible decoder and demuxer. If there is a demuxer for the file
format and a decoder for the codec mplayer will play it. If you have some avi without
video, mplayer can play them :)
You can add some common formats like Vorbis in Ogg or audio ASF (mainly used by
some internet radios).
