i looked at it at first time too, but i'm not the x11 maintainer and i don't
relaly understand it.

btw it has some cosmetics (changing printfs etc) - they should be separate
dto other patch

and imho it needs some comments, it has non-trivial changes (at least for me)

but be patient, if Pontscho will have some time he'll check it.
