I did.
But since the -vo directx can only be used by particular users -
windows users that will have cygwin mplayer, and directx headers
installed
( I dont know if we can include these into a binary distribution),
there is almost no chance to interfere with normal user configuration.

if you dont believe my try to compile mplayer under Linux with directx
support enabled  and to run it.
