imho install menu.conf only if compiled with --enable-menu.
also, installing input.conf (and codecs.conf) is imho useless, since
there are builtin versions of them. users need the external files only if
they want to modify them without recompiling the player.

imho 2: the builtin stuff causes less trouble, since it always work, even
without installing mplayer, even if multiple (incompatible) versions of
mplayer installed etc.
