Comments:

A lot of dependencies are not crucial, so I would make them "recommends" or
"suggests" instead of "depends". The GUI and mencoder should go to separate
packages, so as to not violate the debian principle of "no bundled products"
-- you should be able to install what you want and only what you want.

Otherwise, your work is quite commendable. Nice cleanup.
