disagree!!
libmad is the most stable mpeg audio decoder now.
both ffmp3 and mp3lib has problems (sig11) with some files.

agree!
and sound daemons (artsd, esd, etc) are very bad for video playback, since
they don't provide stable sync feedback to the player.
