no
cache2 is internal code used by the stream layer to handle cache
buffers.

you won't find such thing in mplayer, it is not a modular library.

mplayer-G2 is closer to your needs but it's not finished yet.

maybe you could write a filter (see vf_*.c files) which exports the
iamge
data for your app while keep playing in mplayer.
