Alex suggested that if spelling fixes are committed to a file, it
should be completely checked from top to bottom.  But I'm not sure if
this is to be considered general policy now.  Some clarification in
patches.txt would be good.  I don't think it would hurt to apply
these, though.  The external library stuff should be sent upstream.
