[MPlayer-dev-eng] Can a media stream be played through browser?

Hi!

I am using mplayerplug-in to play mp3 and mpg files from the web.
My browser is phoenix(now known as mozilla firebird).
The present setup has a problem. The browser downloads the full
mp3 file into its disk cache and then mplayer is started. This
takes a lot of time.

Is there a plugin available for mplayer which can play the stream
directly (or with a small buffer)?
