You're right, i probably did something stupid last night. I'll apply  
both patches.
Since you are interested in asx stuff :) can you have a look at this

It requires both your patches to work, but playback does't start at end  
of cache fill, it takes a lot of time to start playing, like it  
dowloads all the file before starting.
The same happens if you play the final url mms://81.209.145.111/dcb/ 
wetterbericht/140404/ws/140404_de.wmv directly
