libmpdemux is supposed to not rely on anything outside the libmpdemux
directory, especially variables. This hasn't been the case for quite
some time, and it won't be changed back either. The reason is that the
demuxers have to make some choices that ideally the core should make
(which stream to select based on -sid/-slang etc...). But as only one
stream of a type is supported the demuxers have to make that choice
already and make use of external variables.
