gmplayer sets mixer_device from gtkAOOSSMixer even if alsa is used.
The problem was hidden until: http://mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mplayer-dev-eng/2004-June/026951.html

A further gmplayer enhancement would to be able to configure the "alsa" audio driver from the
preferences in a similar way to the "oss" driver.
Additionaly, amixer "simple mixer controls" or "regular controls" command-line syntax would be a
nice standard to follow for both mplayer and gmplayer.
