haha, same thing I wanted to say... but anyway good you said it, so I'm
not one of those evil MPlayer devels ;)

I always thought mplayer had no -version option cause it prints the version
on every invocation. But I think such an option would still be good as
one could get only the version string with an invocation and no other
stuff like help messages or playing a file.
