Scott/All:

Using "control" isn't really much better - basically you should not send 
any modifier keys in this way, because doing so actually changes the 
modifier state of the system for users who use 'Sticky Keys', so it's 
still an accessibility conflict.

I believe there is a standard under discussion for keeping screensavers 
from kicking in, perhaps being discussed in freedesktop.org - I am not 
sure offhand.  But certainly using modifier keys is troublesome.

Perhaps sending a modifier which isn't recognized by StickyKeys or 
normally used by the system - perhaps Scroll Lock (twice, just in case 
toggling has an effect) would be better?
