This is only done if the -vo is dxr3 or always?
So waht would be the best way to do something similar for 
AU1200?

For now, you can boot the kernel and have binary images of the
mae-driver and async kernel drivers, libraries and maiplayer.
You can play some MPEG2 files with those but not MPEG4 yet.

I wish they release the code under GPL, too.
