[MPlayer-dev-eng] MPlayer as a shared library?

Hi folks,

I'm wondering if there is a reason I shouldn't try building MPlayer as a shared library.  Has anyone done this?  I've made an initial, exploratory attempt, but there are modules that don't like to be compiled with position independent code.  Before I spend any more time on it, I'm wondering if this would be a futile exercise for some reason.  Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated.
