I do feel ignored. May I respectfully remind of a patch waiting at

http://mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mplayer-dev-eng/2005-April/034264.html

A very small and simple patch makes it possible to specify mplayer as
the application responsible for processing certain mime types in Gnome
(and probably other desktop environments). It is necessary because
desktop environment passes "file:" url to the executor, along with
uri-encoded path, rather than simple path to the file.

The same thing could be achieved via external wrapper, but that would
involve reimplementation of uri-decoding which mplayer already has.

Please consider.
