Please, dont use gtk 1.x if you want to make your program usable for
non-latin1 speaking part of the world.
And "gtk2.0 is bloat" is a myth that leads only to flamewars.

And anyway language/toolkit choice is task that needs to be done
by people who will actually programm that "new gui", not by
"core programmers" or "strangers"...
