IMHO it's better to have "common" profile support. I think there is use for
mplayer profiles. One might e.g. use some default deinterlacing/etc patterns
(for tv/dvd?) or one might want to use certain postprocessing/blurring filters
on certain sources, etc. I know that there is per file configuration support
for this, but: It's extra (annoying) work to do (if there are many files) and
it does not cover everything, you eg. can't make a default setting for dvds
or for tv. Besides one might have different setups (complete surround system
at home vs. bad laptop speakers/etc somewhere else?).
So as long as it doesn't hurt, why not make this a common profile support?
