at least some versions of newer gcc misscompiled code with more then
10 parameters silently, and only sometimes ...
iam not sure wich versions where affected, but if we start using asms
with more then 10 parameters (and i certainly wont mind being able to
write such asms) then 2.95 will not be the only compiler for which we 
need to drop support
