The way I understand it is as follows: MPlayer only reads the header
of the file to determine the duration of the movie, but MPEG standard
doesn't force this information to be true, and MPEG standard allows
the timestamps to reset during the movie.
This means that MPlayer can't be trusted to tell you the duration of
an MPEG movie, and can't be trusted to seek reliably on MPEG files.
