Yes, that's what I'm afraid of. But, again, I think this is akin to 
loading Win32 codecs into mplayer. So, if thats allowed then this should 
be OK, right?

I am aware of that, but unfortunately the drivers do not play well with 
the linux DVB api, and the [va]o_mpegpes plugins do not use the same API 
for sending PES data as libEM84xx.so.
