A few months ago I posted a patch which used the dbus gnome screensaver
API and it still didn't get accepted. The reason was something like: "If
we accept this, then we we'll have to accept screensaver patches for all
the other DEs and WMs as well, we better wait for something generic that
handles them all." Not that there are countless different screensavers
in use and of course, there isn't any generic solution available yet,
that would work for xscreensaver, gnome screensaver and KDE screensaver.
IMHO gnome screensaver support is very needed for mplayer and I really
don't see why there shouldn't be any considering the fact that
xscreensaver and KDE screensaver support is present in mplayer (using
system() and ugly hacks like poking).
