Probably none, obviously people don't particularly like the idea, but
my intention was to remove it step by step as we see issues with it
(so we know what we are doing).

Yes, this is the main reason to get rid of it.
However I do not know if there is still such an issue/to what degree
since I haven't seen a patch that had issues due to Gui since ages
(except VCD warning fix, which exposed a feature that was _only_
available for the Gui, not the commandline).

I've been compiling with Gui enabled since ages.
