Sorry for the long delay Carl, but I realized only now what you meant.
This is strange. My original patch (which I made with "svn diff")
_contains_ the last line break and had the following md5sum:

When this is sent with the email, it is encoded in base64 format, and
if you look into my email (here:

you'll find the following data:

and as you can see the patch was sent _unchanged_. But, if you go to
the mailing list archives here:

) you'll see that the size is one byte shorter and of course it has a
