FWIW I occasionally use the equivalent feature of X Windows to have a
small DVB window in a corner of all my virtual desktops. As such it is
not just your itch, but it has been scratched well on a different
platform already. ;-)

How does this work on a Mac? Does the application (mplayer) control if
it is visible on all desktops? If so, it should be optional and default
to off, IMHO. [On X the window manager controls this.]
