The DVD patches work for me.  I have something called "Virtual 
CloneDrive" installed on my PC that allows mapping
a disk image file to a drive letter.  So I have drives D (the real one) 
and G (a disk image file).  Now I can select either one
in the "Open Disc" menu and gmplayer plays the right one.  Before it 
only played the the one I had specified in my config file.
