Maybe I am exaggerating with ancient.
According to my man-page this is: /* Since glibc 2.12: */
And 2.12 is quite some time old:
2010-05-13: Trunk tagged for 2.12 release.
I'd say expect some issues with that, though MPlayer
and FFmpeg at least should just fail to compile
instead of failing randomly at runtime.
