I have Acer 24x IDE-CDROM and it works, but CDROM is being quiet only after start of file reading. (I.e. after
first file operation on it).
And it official way to change CDROM parameters same as MTRR.
(You can find some recommendations in Linux mailing list on vger.kernel.org)

I hope this document will be increased in the future.
Also it would be better to add some information about SCSI DVD-CDROMs and other exotic ones.
