err... uh... how? the gimp, at least, can't take a shot - gets only the blue
window.

this happens with sdl (sdl:x11) and xv. sdl:dga, x11, dga and gl are all fine.
and it is an mpeg, not an avi. all the broken files i've encountered are mpegs.
