[Mplayer-users] gcc checking

Is gcc checking in configure broken?

I have gcc version 2.96. I get gcc bad error. I can compile successfully
with the --disable-gcc-checking flag with no apperent problems playing
video, but would like to know if there is a real problem with version 2.96
before I fix the configure script.

Should I be upgrading gcc over this issue?
