[Mplayer-users] MPlayer-0.18pre5 fails to build

I'm having trouble building MPlayer-0.18pre5, complains about undefined 
references to "bitstream_flush" and the like, in the libac3 code:

libac3/libac3.a(decode.o): In function `bitstream_flush':
decode.o(.text+0x5b5): undefined reference to `bitstream_flush_bh'
libac3/libac3.a(parse.o): In function `bitstream_flush':
parse.o(.text+0x2f65): undefined reference to `bitstream_flush_bh'
libac3/libac3.a(bitstream.o): In function `bitstream_flush':
bitstream.o(.text+0x1d5): undefined reference to `bitstream_flush_bh'
libac3/libac3.a(coeff.o): In function `bitstream_flush':
coeff.o(.text+0x675): undefined reference to `bitstream_flush_bh'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [mplayer] Error 1

I can't find any obvious feature to turn off in the configure script, and
I'm not sure what lib I might be missing...

The configure line I used is:

./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-gl --enable-dga --enable-sdl --enable-mga --enable-xmga --enable-xv --enable-vm --enable-x11 --enable-fbdev

Any insight appreciated
