[Mplayer-users] MPlayer configure problem

[MiniTom]

I tried to install MPlayer :

 ./configure
You can get detailed help on configure with: ./configure --help
Please wait while ./configure discovers your software and hardware 
environment!
Checking version of gcc ... 2.96, bad
Please downgrade(upgrade) gcc compiler to gcc-2.95.2+ or gcc-3.0+ version

I just can't believe this !!!!

Why does it accept any gcc version exept mine :-(   ???????

Does any one knows about that problem ?

Any help would be welcome.
