I just tested ffmpeg mlib-extensions in Sparc Solaris with mplayer: 
It's good speedup, too bad I can't compare to Win-DLLs ;-)
ffmpeg12 is still much slower than mpeg12, though...

same MPEG-video: -vc mpeg12
BENCHMARKs: V:   4.448s VO:   0.000s A:   0.000s Sys:   0.369s =    4.817s

Boy, that's great! 

Speedup for ffdivx/ffmpeg12 decoder is at _least_ 150-160% !
