	Have you tried any VP3 media with MPlayer? I haven't, but I do see
this entry in the codecs.conf file:
videocodec vp3
  info "On2 OpenSource VP3-Codec"
  status working
  fourcc VP31,vp31
  driver vfwex
  dll "vp31vfw.dll"
  out YUY2
  out BGR32,BGR24,BGR15

Which indicates that MPlayer currently requires the Windows DLL variant in
order to make it work. If it actually is open source, MPlayer could
benefit from implementating native support.
