ok, this is the bugreport.
was: [MPlayer-users] mencoder & 2-pass divx

synopsis: mencoder randomly segfaults during dixv4/mp3 encoding.

     Since this machine is only used for encoding there is no X stuff and
     thou, mplayer itself was not compiled.
