Almost forgot, you can also press the letter O key during playback to switch OSD modes.

(man mplayer)
-osdlevel level
specifies which mode the OSD should start in  (0  :
none, 1 : seek, 2: seek+timer) (default = 2)

Keys:

 o               cycle OSD mode:  none / seekbar / seekbar+timer


So, in this case, maybe RTFOutput?
