FWIW, mine reads :
"Reading /home/pl/.mplayer/codecs.conf: 24 audio & 69 video codecs"
Maybe your codecs.conf isn't up to date ?

There's none of these files ?

If it still occurs consider reading the gdb part in DOC/bugreport*
