( or on mplayer.dev.hu ftp/http ).
There U'll find also fonts needed for OSD.

haven't tried the tarball but look in at the DOCS/mplayer.1
You should also try reading DOCS/* that apply to you,
font.desc is described in OSD+SUB file.
