It's not 2.96.x but 2.96-x. It's the same CVS snapshoot of gcc as it was in
7.0. Check "gcc -v" - the same date. It's only recompiled on RH 7.1, but
it's the same crap as before.

Like Arpi said: check "mplayer -vo x11" on 16bpp. It won't work.
