OTOH, someone might create company, say "Pink Trousers" and start selling
mplayer compiled for i386 with point&click installer.
 And then everyone is happy.

btw, how is gui-thing doing? I thought about creating tiny Tk app that
just feeds the filename to mplayer, and then I could put thins appie into
debian menu system for X11 target.
 That way one could start it via ctrl-esc p v m.
If I count correctly thats 2 keystrokes less than typing 'mplayer' ;)
And that way I would feel than my debian installer is doing actually sth
usefull.. welll.. just something.
